Let me introduce myself: I am Dr. Erika Horwitz.  I am a Registered Psychologist, Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher, Author, International Public Speaker, and University lecturer.

I am currently the President of the British Columbia Psychological Association and sit in the Council of Representatives at the American Psychological Association.  I am the former Director of Counselling Services at Simon Fraser University and the creator of Hi F.IV.E., an international anti-stigma campaign focused on eliminating stigma against mental illness.  I was given the award for excellence and innovation at Simon Fraser University for my work on this campaign, which was picked up by many countries around the world.  I am passionate about mental health and committed to making a difference in my private and public work.

My passion is to help.  I have been fortunate to have chosen a profession that allows me to make a difference in the lives of those who come to see me.
 
 
Do you have trouble with anxiety, depression, eating issues, relationships, stress and coping, chronic pain? I have over 25 years experience in helping people with a range of struggles.
 
You can expect to feel heard and understood and not only gain insight into your issues but also learn tools that will help you begin to feel better right after the first session. Because I believe in the amazing capacity of human beings to transform, I help to instil hope because of my passion and belief in the process of transformation.
 
I work with a variety of modalities that not only lead to insight but give you useful tools to reduce anxiety, negative thinking, worrying, panic, physical pain. In addition, I help you learn tools to have healthier relationships and to find your voice.  I also support you in how to improve your confidence and sense of self so that you can navigate life with more confidence.
 
It is in my nature to be warm, caring, and truly non-judgmental. All human beings want the same thing: to find peace and be happy. Many clients have reported feeling better after their first session with me.
